Bespoke Website Development
Guernsey's AI Sprint is six weeks of free talks, workshops, hackathons and clinics running from 1 October to 12 November 2026. Organised by the Guernsey Chamber of Commerce with the island's eight industry bodies, and backed by PwC and a wide group of partners, it is the biggest coordinated effort the island has made to move businesses and individuals from curiosity about AI into everyday use.
We were delighted to come on board as the Sprint's community tech partner and build the website for it. A huge amount of work has gone into the programme, and our job was to make sure the site matched that energy.
The brief
A programme this size runs on Eventbrite. Every session, speaker, venue and ticket lives there, and the organising team was still adding and reshaping sessions close to launch. The last thing they needed was a website that asked them to type the same thing in twice.
At the same time, the public site had to be more than an events list. Matthew Falla had created a bold visual identity for the Sprint and its initial website, and the next version needed to carry that through while giving people somewhere to explore the programme, find the sessions right for them and register in a couple of clicks. It also had to be live for registration opening on 1 September, and stay easy for a small non-technical team to look after through a fast-moving six weeks.
What we built
Working closely with the Sprint team and Matthew, we built a bespoke Umbraco website with the Eventbrite integration at its heart.
Umbraco CMS
The organising team manages pages, messaging, partner content and speaker profiles themselves. No developer needed for the day-to-day.
Bespoke Eventbrite integration
Eventbrite stays the operational source of truth. Our integration pulls the core event data into the site automatically, so when a session is added or changed in Eventbrite, the website follows.
Richer content on top
Editors can add longer descriptions, speaker bios, images and Focus tags to any session without creating a second copy of the event data. One place to manage, one version to trust.
A programme people can easily navigate
Sessions are filterable by week and Focus area, so a complete beginner and an in-house AI lead can each find their route through 50-plus sessions in seconds.
Under the hood
The interesting challenge on this project was keeping two systems in step without the organisers ever having to think about it.
With a large number of sessions being created and managed in Eventbrite, we wanted to spare the team from maintaining the same information in two places. So we built a bespoke API integration that pulls the core event data directly into the website, with Eventbrite kept as the operational source of truth. The programme on the site is always the programme the organisers are actually running.
From there, the website layers richer content and presentation on top. The team can add depth where it is wanted without creating a second version of the event data to keep up to date, and Umbraco takes care of the rest of the site, so everyday content changes never need a developer.
With this balance in place, the team gets the convenience of managing their programme in the tools they already use, while visitors get a website that feels like a considered part of the AI Sprint brand, rather than an embedded booking system.
In other words, the complexity stays under the hood (where it belongs!)
Get involved
It has been a real pleasure to play a part in bringing the AI Sprint to life, and we cannot wait to see what the island builds with it.
